16 - Request for automated planting
Automatic planting on frame open. Instead of requiring a ctrl-click to plant the addon could search inventory for a matching seed type and plant the first one it finds in the same way it searches for soil and water.
IDs or tooltip searching for '^Seed' and/or '^Attribute: (Ore|Herb|Wood)' would be appropriate and both methods have pros/cons.
An option similar to auto-harvest, overwater, and auto-care would be required for users not wishing to use this function.
For multipurpose pots a configurable option for which type to use could be set up, or it could simply plant the first seed available. This would obviously require some warning text on the option screen.
I request this because it takes me upwards of 1.5 hours to replant, even using the current ctrl-click available.

Take the best seed from the backpack matching the criteria in the following order
always respecting player's skill in planting.

delve202 Apr 29, 2010 at 16:53 UTC - 0 likesStreamline. It hooks alt-click in inventory to swap inventory pages for items. Alt-click will cause the slot to move from page 1 to the first available slot in page 2, and vice versa.
Just another world addict with a relapse problem.

oeginc Apr 28, 2010 at 18:37 UTC - 0 likesI believe you misconstrued my comments, I had no intentions of having any sort of pissing contest, merely to get this issue resolved for you.
What add-on do you have that is messing up the alt-click function? Perhaps I can find some way around that. It works great for me and saves alot of time.

Suffice that I could replant significantly faster if I just had to one-click the pots (ctrl-click the pot maybe? that would save building the config for people that don't want to use the function), and the alt-click function doesn't work for me as implemented. :)

oeginc Apr 28, 2010 at 18:16 UTC - 0 likesWell, it was feeding & watering. Yes, it was only 5 pots, however 10 pots doesn't take much longer (3-4 seconds instead of 2). I will try to get a video of harvesting/replanting shortly. I currently don't send my mats off to a different char regularly, I let them build up - but when I do, it literally takes me less than 10 seconds per alt to do.

delve202 Apr 28, 2010 at 16:27 UTC - 0 likesThat's just watering. I said 1.5 hours to re-plant. Harvest, send mats, and plant/water new seeds. That's quite a more complicated task. :) Just watering takes me about 30 minutes for 16 alts, but I load in/out slower than you apparently and have the aforementioned issues with autocare which have been persistent since the first release.
Also, you only had 5 pots :) I'll see what I can do towards getting a video of what I'm experiencing.

oeginc Apr 28, 2010 at 15:44 UTC - 0 likesI've posted a video HERE showing how quickly I enter my house, feed/water my plants, and then leave again... This video is real-time, no speedups... As you can see, to feed/water 5 plants takes 2 seconds. By far the majority of the time is spent entering/leaving... I'd be interested to see how it works for others. I have never seen a lag of any sort clicking on a pot, even on my slower computers with crappy graphics cards... I'd be happy to try to fix the problem if I could duplicate it.

delve202 Apr 28, 2010 at 14:54 UTC - 0 likesI entirely agree with storing settings per character. I wish more addons would do that, saves a lot of trouble when the global savesettings.lua gets trashed.
I've tried the alt-click, but it interferes with another addon I'm using that looks for alt-click on inventory items and so is unfortunately useless to me. As for timeframes, your computer may be faster than mine. There's often a noticable lag between when the frame opens and when the watering is finished. I also find that it often doesn't autocare when I'm planting requiring me to click again on the pot. Both of these doubtless extend the time required.
Just my own habits, I only plant matching seed types and I only maintain 1 round (10 seeds) per alt so selecting the first compatible seed would work for me. Perhaps this functionality can be implemented in stages, allowing room for seed selection options to be implemented after the basic functionality is in place.

oeginc Apr 28, 2010 at 14:25 UTC - 0 likesHave you tried with the new Alt-Click? How many toons you planting? I have 24 planting alts and I get them all done in less than 30 minutes... Takes me far longer to login/logout than anything else.
Never the less, I've been considering something like this for the past week - I just need to find the right way to implement it. Alot of people don't plant herbs in herb pots, ore in ore pots, etc. Some people may want to plant their lowest level seeds first, some people their highest level seeds.. Some people may want or not want to plant magic seeds, etc.
On top of that, PlantCare needs to be overhauls to store it's preferences based on your toon before we can even consider this (which I'm working on as we speak).
